How To Use Sandes App Installation Features & Restrictions

The National Informatics (NIC) has developed the Sandes App, which is termed as the alternative for WhatsApp. It is because the government of India has persisted in launching a new instant messaging platform that ensures confidentiality. All the processes took place after Cert-in mentioned that the zoom platform is not secure for handling private information. Hence, in August 2020, the NIC launched the first version of Sandes App, which would function as a messaging platform for government officials.

This is the second time we are seeing a home-grown software app getting popularity through the central government officials. The Koo Media App, which recently gained the spotlight, is an excellent example of how officials are moving towards Indian-centered applications. However, only time will specify how the Sandes App gains focus among the users.

However, now that the Sandes App is available for public use, we will help you by providing some vital information on installing and using it.

What Do You Need To Download?

When the Sandes App first became functioning, the officials were required to enter their Government ID to become users. However, now with the app becoming usable for the common public, there are only some pre-requisites

  • iOs users should have an operating system of iOs 11 or above to download it from the App Store.
  • Android users who are required to download the Sandes App from the APK file as it is not available on Google PlayStore yet, should have operating system 5.0 or above.
  • An active working mobile number or email address which will be the registering information

Installation And Signing Up

Once you’ve completed downloading the Sandes App on your respective devices, you can move on to the account set up. It is an easy-to-do method that only requires you to verify your identity.

First step: open the app and punch in your active mobile number or your email address, as you prefer.

Second step: you’ll receive a ‘One Time Password’ (OTP) on your device, using which you can complete the second step of verification.

Third step: once you verify, enter your personal information and start texting with your contacts; like any other messaging platform.

These simple steps will help you set up your account. Moreover, it is incredibly easy to use as its interface is very similar to the existing messaging apps like Whatsapp. Sandes App provides group making, message broadcasting, emojis, and end-to-end encryption for users in terms of features. The additional feature of the Confidentiality tag helps in making it a secure and safe messaging platform for users.

Public Consumer Use Of Sandes App

After the pandemic peaked in India and the lockdown restrictions were in full effect; the Government of India made some upgrades to the already existing private messaging platform GIMS, which was exclusive for officials. This is how the Appcame into existence. This was an essential step to improve and ensure encryption security that other platforms do not guarantee. Hence, after having tried and tested the app, it is now known that the app is being open for consumer usage. The ordinary public can use the app to contact, text, and chat with their contacts who are also using the Sandes App. The exclusivity from the app has been lifted, and users who are wishing to sign up no longer require a government ID to complete the registration process.

However, you will need to have an active mobile number or an email address to become a user of the Sandes app. The Confidentiality Tag feature that allows you to track if anybody has forward or share a personal message works wonder to invite a new customer base. Moreover, the Sandes app provides verified accountability status to users who are government officials; something which WhatsApp doesn’t. Let’s see if Sandes is able to gain public popularity or not.
