Sony Xperia XZ1 vs Xperia XZ Premium [Comparison]
With the passage of time, companies have tried to increase the resolution on their phones a lot for an immersive experience. Sony has been among top companies in this race. I have not seen any company offering a 4K resolution on mobiles except this company. And here we are discussing company’s first 4K smartphone, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. This solid display’s market leader is available in an eye-catching design that appeals beautifully. And this one great photo-shooter too. You can like a lot when exploring this Sony’s high-end smartphone.
And what’s more? Sony is not limited to one high-end phone, there is Xperia XZ1 to help you out if you do not want to spend a lot. This is a little trimmed down version you can buy at the not very heavy price, unlike Xperia XZ Premium.
Display and Design:
When it comes to design, you do not find much difference. The Xperia XZ Premium comes under a body made of aluminum and glass. More, you can find plastic too. The company has used Corning Gorilla Glass on both sides of this phone.
This is a solid protection to keep body secured when you drop the phone accidentally. This is thick, it has a 7.3mm body thickness. But Xperia XZ1 is sleek, it has a 7.4mm thickness to look shiny in your hands. The buttons are arranged on the Sony XZ Premium again it is identical to previous models, elongated runway round with fingerprint identification function of the switch machine/lock screen key is still placed in the right side of the center of the position.
So what’s the difference here? The Xperia XZ Premium has a 5.4-inches 4K display (3840 x 2160 pixels) with 807ppi density. And the Xperia XZ1 has a 5.2-inches display of full HD resolution, 1080 x 1920 pixels. If you can live without the 4K display at this time, you should pick the Xperia XZ1 which is sleeker and impressive.
These two phones have Octa-Core processors but at the different speed. The Xperia XZ Premium has an Octa-Core processor containing 4 cores clocked at 2.45 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 4×1.9 GHz. And the Xperia XZ1 has a little slower processor, Octa-Core processor containing 4 cores clocked at 2.35 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 4×1.9 GHz. But it does not make the matter a lot, this is enough to run you smoothly. And you get 4GB RAM on both phones.
Xperia XZ Premium better chipset, 10nm process technology, thanks to the advanced system threads relative compared to the products. It can reduce the 35% chip area, the power loss of 25. Thinking of graphics, it has GPU Adreno 540.
Camera:
When it comes to camera and photography, you do not get a lot of difference here. Both phones have a 19MP camera and this is a great camera you can use. It has 1/2.3” CMOS sensor and supports the 5-axis stabilization technology. Its built-in photosensitive components use a three-layer stack structure, independent cache layer can take the highest 960fps of super slow action video. 960fps videos (this should be the main selling point of this smartphone).
Samsung has adopted this feature too, super slow motion videos, record HD videos at 960frames. On the front side, these best smartphones have 13MP cameras, 22mm wide-angle lens that supports 5-axis stabilization.
The IMX400 CMOS sensor on the ear side offers 1.22µm pixel size that can take the photograph of up to 5520 x 3840 resolution. Bayer array is a traditional RGBG structure that differs from the RGBW architecture of IMX298 and IMX398, so it is possible to take some losses on the amount of incoming light.
Battery life:
The Xperia XZ Premium has a 3230mAh battery (this non-removable Li-Ion battery). It does support fast charging but sadly overall charging speed is not very impressive, more than one hour to get it charged completely. And sadly, it does not support wireless charging.
You can easily last more than a day on average usage. The Xperia XZ1 is a little lower in performance here, it has 2700mAh battery that offers similar performance, but a few hours.
What should you pick?
It depends on needs, choice, and budget. Both are good and impressive phones you can buy. If you want to spend a lot to get the high-res display and longer battery, think of Xperia XZ Premium. And if you can manage yourself with a normal display and a little normally battery life, you should focus on what Xperia XZ1 can do. If you want a high photography experience, both phones are impressive.
